Student Government Association

Introduction to the Student government  association

Student Government Association is an organization that represents the student body as a whole. It is a governing body that is tasked with ensuring the student voice is heard. The platform I ran on, “David did it. So can we.” Depicts how a biblical story can empower students to stand even when all odds are against us. We have made changes thus far and because David did it. We can too. Thank you for visiting out page. I hope you get a chance to learn a little more about those that serve you.
                                                                                              Jessica Tolbert, SGA President

The mission of the Student Government Association is to provide Claflin University Students with representation, services and advocacy within the University structure.

The student government association provides quality leadership and accountability to its constituency by recognizing that strength arises from diversity, engagement, and dialogue.

All students of Claflin University are encouraged to be active members of the Student Government Association. The office of the Student Government Association is located in Room 112 Campus Center. Her leadership goals for the 2017-2018 school year include strengthening the connection between students and administration through the use of Town Hall meetings, improving the food the cafe, and drafting proposals for the implementation of a royal court, a bicameral legislative branch, and a more student-friendly visitation policy. Her advice for developing leaders is: If you have the urge to inspire, go forth. Don’t waste time wondering if you are the person for the job and be the person for the job. The comfort zone is merely the settling grounds for mediocrity. Leadership can be a learned trait, so if you want to test your true potential, seek opportunities that completely frighten you but that you are willing to work hard for. If God put it on your heart, it may be meant for you. You never know. You might surprise yourself!
